لن تشعر جماهير ليفربول، بمذاق فرحة الاحتفال بعيد الميلاد، بعدما سقط حامل اللقب في فخ التعادل للمرة الثانية على التوالي خلال نفس الأسبوع، وذلك أمام مضيفه نيوكاسل يونايتد، بدون أهداف اليوم الأربعاء، ضمن الجولة 16 من البريميرليج.

فعلى ملعب سانت جيمس بارك، تفنن الثلاثي محمد صلاح وساديو ماني وفيرمينو، في إهدار الفرص المحققة أمام مرمى أصحاب الأرض، ليخرج اللقاء بالتعادل السلبي.

وارتفع رصيد ليفربول بهذا التعادل إلى 33 نقطة في الصدارة، بفارق 3 نقاط أمام مانشستر يونايتد الذي لعب مباراة واحدة أقل، فيما ارتفع رصيد نيوكاسل إلى 19 نقطة في المركز الـ14.
