أكبر طائرة في العالم

نجحت أكبر طائرة في العالم بالتحليق في الجو للمرة الرابعة من ميناء موهافي للطيران والفضاء، في كاليفورنيا، بحسب ما أعلنت شركة «ستراتولونش» التي تملكها، وتحمل الاسم ذاته.

أكبر من ملعب كرة القدم

وحلقت «ستراتولونش»، بمحركاتها الستة من طراز بوينج 747، وجناحيها اللذين يبلغ طولهما 117 متراً، وهو أكبر من طول ملعب كرة القدم.

سرعتها سرعة الصوت

وبسرعة تصل إلى 530 ميلاً في الساعة، على ارتفاع 15 ألف قدم، وتفوق سرعتها سرعة الصوت، وبوزن 500 ألف رطل من دون حمولة.

رحلة ناجحة

وقال د. زاكاري كريفور، رئيس شركة ستراتولونش ومديرها التشغيلي: «تظهر رحلة اليوم الناجحة وتثبت صحة التحسينات التي أجريت على أنظمة الطائرة والأداء».

جسمين توأمين

وتتميز الطائرة بجسمين توأمين متوازيين في الحجم، مع طاقم من 3 أشخاص، اثنان منهم في الجسم الأيمن من الطائرة، في حين يحتوي جسم الطائرة الأيسر على ما يشبه قمرة القيادة.

The test flight 4 was to retract all landing gear into the plane for the first time but the flight was cut short due to a vibration issue and warning light going on after 1hr into the flight

But the plane came back to the Mojave airport and did 4 flybys to make sure it was still performing as expected and to burn off extra fuel before landing safely

With a wingspan of 383 feet, Stratolaunch is wider than the length of a football pitch from goal to goal, which is generally around 345 feet
