وقال موقع “ناسا” إن العربة الجوالة المخضرمة “Curiosity” التقطت مشهد غروب الشمس المذهل من سطح كوكب المريخ، وذلك في بداية حملة جديدة للتصوير السحابي.

Eye-catching: The Martian sun rays is not the only spectacle Curiosity has captured recently. It also snapped a set of colourful clouds shaped like a feather (pictured). The image shows them take on an almost rainbow-like appearance because they have been illuminated by sunlight in a process known as iridescence

وذكر المصدر: “عندما نزلت الشمس فوق الأفق في 2 فبراير، أضاءت أشعة الشمس مجموعة من الغيوم. تعرف هذه الأشعة بالأشعة الشفقية”.

وأوضح: “كانت هذه هي المرة الأولى التي تتم فيها مشاهدة أشعة الشمس بوضوح على كوكب المريخ”.

والتقطت المركبة الجوالة أشعة الشمس على شكل صور بانورامية (28 صورة)، قبل إرسالها إلى الأرض من أجل معالجتها.

و”كيوريوسيتي” هي عربة متجولة على المريخ تتحرك بالطاقة النووية. وحطت على الكوكب الأحمر في أغسطس 2012.
