رحيل الإعلامي الامريكي الشهير لاري كينج بعد صراع مع فيروس كورونا

أفادت وسائل إعلام أمريكية، اليوم السبت، بأن المذيع الشهير ومقدم البرامج لاري كينج، توفي بعد أيام من إصابته بفيروس كورونا المستجد؛ وذلك في مستشفى سيدرز سيناء الطبي بولاية لوس أنجلوس.

وأكدت عائلة لاري كينغ أنه فارَقَ الحياة في مستشفى في مدينة لوس أنجلوس صباح اليوم السبت عن عمر ناهز 88 عامًا بعد صراع طويل مع المرض.

ونشر على حساب كينغ في “تويتر”، بيان تعزية صدَر عن شركة Ora TV التلفزيونية الذي كان المذيعُ من مؤسسيها.

وذكر البيان الإنجازات التي حققها “كينج” خلال حياته المهنية التي استمرت 63 عامًا، بما في ذلك مقابلة رائعة مع ألوف الأشخاص البارزين، منهم رؤساء أمريكيون وأجانب.

واحتفل “كينج”، الذي كان يعاني على مدى سنوات من مشاكل خطيرة، في المستشفى بعيد ميلاده الـ87 في 19 نوفمبر الماضي.

وفي وقت سابق من الشهر الجاري، وردت أنباء عن نقل “كينج” إلى المستشفى مجددًا، بعد تشخيص إصابته بفيروس كورونا المستجد، وتم توصيله بأجهزة التنفس الاصطناعي.

ووُلد “كينج” في 19 نوفمبر 1933. وبدأ العمل في قناة «سي إن إن» عام 1985، وكان يقدم برنامجه الشهير لاري كينج لايف (Larry King Live) حتى عام 2010، لينتقل بعدها للعمل في قناة RT America (روسيا اليوم- أمريكا)؛ حيث يقدم برنامج Politicking with Larry King الأسبوعي.

Larry King was born Lawrence H. Zeiger in 1933 to a strict Orthodox Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York. As a child he dreamed of working in broadcast: 'When I was 5 years old I would lie in bed, look at the radio, and I wanted to be on the radio. I don't know why I was magically attuned to it.' The tragic death of his father when he was nine years old heavily impacted King and his family, who was forced to go on government welfare. King, who never attended college, entered the work force straight after graduating high school to make ends meet. King was 23 and working in a midtown-Manhattan mail room when he moved to Miami on the advice of a CBS sportscaster who said the budding media market was offering opportunities for inexperienced radio hosts

King's production company, Ora Media, confirmed his death in a statement on social media Saturday
